I've had a lot of changes in my life this year, but the biggest one has been my move from Moscow to Sochi. My wife had the opportunity to open a clothing store inside Rosa Khutor, the best spa resort in the city. Since it's located on the main road of the Olympic village at the top of the mountain, it's sure to do excellent business during the upcoming Winter Games. The Olympics are in town all through February, and then in March the Paralympic Games will take place at some of the same venues. This is her project, so she'll be doing most of the work to open the store, but I will be around to help her out when I'm not playing online.

I've never really been in an Olympic mood, but it's hard not to be when the games are right at your doorstep. I've been checking out ticket prices and I think I'll go to a few events--maybe the men's hockey final and a few others. I don't know if it will be the greatest Olympic games ever, but it should be interesting to watch it all unfold.
My wife and I have wanted to move out of Moscow for some time. It's crowded, the economy is bad, and my wife's business opportunity in Sochi is only the first step on a long journey west. After the Olympic games, I am going to play a few EPT events, but once the Grand Final finishes, we will leave Russia and make our new home in Riga, Latvia. Moving is difficult for Russians because of visa issues. Many countries will not let you move there unless you've already purchased a big flat or established a business. My hope is once we're set up in Riga, it will be easier for me to travel for work since Latvia is an EU (European Union) country. Riga, however, is not our final destination. My ultimate dream is to settle down permanently in one of my two favorite cities--Berlin or Amsterdam.

As for poker, I took a short break after that turned into a pretty long break--about 50 days. I had a really hard three months constantly playing and traveling and I was burned out. At the WSOP, I played every day for 40 days and only had two cashes. It put me in a bad mood and it only continued during WCOOP. I made a few Day 2s, but didn't get the big finish I was looking for. However, on the bright side, I won a $200 buy-in MiniFTOPS event on Full Tult for $120k. After that long, cold, run I was finally back in the black.
So, I'll be here in Sochi, grinding online MTTs, helping out my wife in her store, and heading up to the mountains with my snowboard. What can I say? I have Olympic fever.
